Law Enforcement Conference on Combating Animal Fighting

Virginia Attorney General Mark Herring, along with the Association of Prosecuting Attorneys (APA) and the ASPCA (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) recently held a law enforcement conference “Combating Animal Fighting” to examine methods of successfully tackling animal fighting through investigations and prosecution. The conference took place on the campus of Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Va. forwebsite

Expert panelists from the Office of Attorney General, prosecuting attorneys, the Virginia Animal Fighting Task Force, ASPCA, and forensic veterinarians trained attendees how to successfully tackle animal fighting in their communities through investigations and prosecution.

Earlier this year, experts and practitioners from around the country also gathered in Atlanta, Ga. at the fourth National Animal Cruelty Prosecution Summit to build partnerships and enhance existing techniques for holding animal abusers fully accountable for their criminal actions.
